This course will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge in electrical machinery, mechanical principles and mechanical equipment to produce drawings for design specifications.

Gaining a range of computer aided drafting (CAD) skills, you will be able to interpret and create drawing components for the manufacture of equipment. Learning about fluid power will give you the skills and knowledge to set up and connect hydraulic equipment.

The Diploma of Engineering -Technical (Mechanical) shares the same first semester with the Diploma of Engineering -Technical (Mechatronics). In simple terms, mechanical and mechatronics have many common elements, but as the name suggests mechanical is more geared towards mechanical design but does have some electrical, electronics and programming content.

You can switch streams between the two by choosing the correct electives.
