Certificate I in Spoken and Written English

This course is a component of the CSWE, English as an additional language (EAL) curriculum framework. It is a beginner course for learners who have just started learning English and who may have had minimal exposure to the language.

It provides English language learning for EAL learners, primarily targeting newly arrived migrants and refugees who need to develop language skills to participate in limited range of contexts.

Other groups who benefit from this course include international students, long term migrants and Aboriginal students. The certificate includes elective numeracy units for those learners who may also need to develop numeracy skills.
