Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing)

This qualification provides you with the opportunity to empower and support the independence of our elders needing care and support and join the fastest growing industry.

When you complete the Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) you will be ready to start a rewarding career. You could be an aged care worker in the following settings: residential, home and community.

Certificate lll Individual Support (Ageing) workers assist the aged with creating a positive lifestyle and with their daily living activities including:

·         Basic hygiene and mobility needs

·         Working with people from different cultures

·         The effects of dementia and the management of any related changes

·         How to empower or re-enable older people

·         The importance of consumer directed care

·         How to recognise age related changes to body systems

·         How to implement effective communication strategies

This qualification includes a 120 hour supervised work placement at a residential aged care facility. You will need to obtain a police clearance and buy a polo shirt.  It is strongly recommended that you see your doctor about having a flu vaccination.

Your qualification prepares you for roles such as: personal care worker, community worker and aged care worker.  Successful completion of this qualification provides you with the opportunity to become an aged care/support worker in a residential facility, an individual's home or a day centre.   As an aged care/support worker you will have the opportunity to work with aged clients, people with disabilities and mental health issues.  You may wish to continue further studies in each of these specialist areas.

VET Student Loans

VET Student Loans is the new program that replaces the current VET FEE HELP scheme.
