Diploma of Community Services

In this course you will gain skills in consultation, community program development, group work, advocacy, case management, policy and research. You will also gain business skills such as the management of finances and work safety.

As part of this qualification you will complete supervised work placements where you will be able to apply the skills and knowledge you have learned while undertaking real community services projects that involve working in or leading a team.

These qualifications provide you with skills that are relevant to current industry trends and practices. By the end of the course you will be able to:

·         Oversee service delivery of community service organisations

·         Consult with clients

·         Develop community programs

·         Engage in group work

·         Engage in advocacy

·         Undertake case management

·         Create policy and undertake research

We recommend that students be over the age of 18 before enrolling into this course as the employment/placement outcomes are very limited for students under the age of 18.

Graduates are able to work in aged care homes, youth shelters, State Government Family and Community Service Agencies, youth centres, aboriginal communities, community centres and local councils. Working for oneself through contract community work is also possible.

VET Student Loans
