Diploma of Maritime Operations (Watchkeeper Deck)

This marine course is aligned to the educational requirements for certification as Deck Watchkeeper as described in Marine Orders - Part 3: Seagoing Qualifications (Version 6) under the Australian Navigation Act 1912. A history of sea time/service on board a vessel will be required to obtain a certificate of competency from AMSA.

 

There are two pathways into the course:

The Deck Watchkeeper qualification allows the holder to sail as Deck Watchkeeper on unlimited vessel size and in unlimited areas; entry via deck-cadet or integrated rating pathway.

 

The Master < 500GT / Deck Watchkeeper is an international qualification. Holders commonly work in the offshore Oil rig Industry, Merchant ocean-going vessels, large charter vessels, Large 'White Boat' yacht Industry, tugs, Sailing ships etc.
