A career by design

This course will expose you to drafting residential buildings within the building and construction industry. You'll develop the knowledge and skills you'll need to draft residential buildings, both single and double storey. Drafters produce drawings and documentation and use CAD software to draft and document residential Class 1 and 10 building designs. 

Our residential drafting qualification provides you with skills that are relevant to current industry trends and practices.

Once you have completed this Certificate IV course you will be able to apply your skills to diverse residential building design projects. You may also choose to progress to the Diploma of Buidling Design.

Painting and Decorating is known as the finishing trade of the building industry. It encompasses areas such as internal and external painting and decorating on a variety of surfaces, and includes the decoration of new and existing homes, hospitals, shops, hotels and buildings of historical significance. Signcrafters use a variety of materials and techniques such as painting, computer graphics, vinyl, wood, foam, plastic, glass, gold leaf and engraving to provide eye catching designs.

Residential Building Drafting

Builders are the key to coordinating the construction or renovation of houses and commercial buildings. Builders are involved in every aspect of the project from interpreting the plans, to quotation, through to organising various trade sub-contractors to complete the build. As a drafter, you will learn how to convert an idea into clear, dimensioned drawings, preparing the builder with the necessary information for construction.
